The agreement between you and Pin Abroad when you use this website or our study-abroad services.
These terms set out what you can expect from Pin Abroad, what we expect from you, and where each side's responsibility ends. We have kept them short and readable rather than burying the important parts in legal language. Please read section 7 in particular, which explains the one thing we can never promise.
These Terms of Service apply when you use pinabroad.com, submit an enquiry through it, or engage us for counselling, application or visa-guidance services. By doing any of those things, you agree to these terms.
If you do not agree with them, please do not use our website or our services.
Where we have signed a separate written agreement with you or with your organisation, that agreement takes precedence over these terms if the two ever conflict.
Pin Abroad is a study-abroad consultancy. Our head office is at 350 Orchard Road, #09-06 Shaw House, Singapore 238868, and we also operate from offices in Melbourne and Dubai.
In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Pin Abroad. "You" means the person using this website or our services. If you are under 18, "you" includes the parent or guardian who agrees to these terms on your behalf.
We advise students and working professionals on studying overseas, and we help them apply. Depending on what you ask for, that can include:
It is important to be clear about the limits of our role:
Our advice is based on the information you give us and on the entry requirements and policies published at the time. Those requirements change, sometimes at short notice and without warning.
You may use our services if you are 18 or over, or if you are 16 or 17 and a parent or guardian agrees to these terms with you and takes part in the process.
You must have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement, and the information you give us must relate to you or to someone you are authorised to act for.
Our work depends almost entirely on what you give us, so this section matters as much as any other.
You must make sure that everything you provide is true, complete and your own. That includes academic transcripts, test scores, work experience, financial documents, passport details and personal statements.
Why this is serious. Universities and visa authorities treat false or misleading information as fraud. It can mean your application is rejected, an offer is withdrawn, a visa is refused, or a ban is imposed on future applications to that country. These consequences fall on you, not on us, and they can follow you for years.
If we discover that you have given us documents or information that are forged, altered or not your own, we will stop work immediately, we may notify the institutions concerned where we are required to, and you will not be entitled to any refund.
Admissions and visa processes run on fixed deadlines that we do not control. You are responsible for providing documents, paying university or visa fees, attending interviews and appointments, and responding to our requests in good time. We cannot be held responsible for an application that fails because information reached us too late.
Please keep originals and copies of everything you send us. Do not rely on us as your only record.
Let us know promptly if your contact details, academic results, financial position or plans change, since any of these can affect an application already in progress.
Your first counselling session is free, and there is no obligation to continue.
Where any part of our service carries a fee, we will tell you the amount, what it covers and when it is payable in writing and before you commit. You will never be charged by us for something you have not agreed to in advance. If you have not agreed a fee with us in writing, you do not owe us one.
Separately from anything payable to us, you will normally have to pay third parties directly. These are set by them, not by us, and we do not receive them:
These third-party fees are almost always non-refundable, including when an application or a visa is unsuccessful. That is the third party's policy, and it is outside our control.
If you have paid us a fee and we are unable to deliver the service you paid for, we will refund the portion that relates to work not carried out. We will not refund work already completed, and we cannot refund fees you have paid to a university, a test centre, a visa authority or any other third party.
We do not refund fees because an application or visa was unsuccessful, since the outcome is not ours to decide. See section 7.
A note on how we are paid. Like most study-abroad consultancies, we may receive a commission from a university or its representative when a student we have advised enrols there. This never changes the fact that our recommendation must suit your profile, budget and goals. If you ever want to know whether we have a commercial relationship with an institution we have suggested, ask us and we will tell you.
This is the most important section on this page.
We cannot and do not guarantee that you will receive an offer of admission, a scholarship, a loan, or a visa.
Those decisions belong entirely to universities, funding bodies and government authorities. They apply their own criteria, they change those criteria, and they are not obliged to explain a decision to us or to you. No consultancy anywhere can promise you an outcome, and you should be cautious of any that does.
What we do commit to is this: we will assess your profile honestly, recommend options we genuinely believe suit you, prepare your application to the best professional standard we can, and submit it correctly and on time.
Any success rates, statistics or past results we publish describe what has happened previously. They are not a prediction of, or a promise about, your own application.
Similarly, information on this website about tuition costs, living expenses, entry requirements, work rights and post-study visa rules is given in good faith and is accurate to the best of our knowledge when published. Rules and figures change frequently. Always confirm the current position with the university or the relevant government authority before making a decision.
When you accept a university offer, your agreement is with that university, on its terms. The same applies to accommodation providers, lenders, insurers, test centres and travel companies we may introduce you to. We are not a party to those agreements and we are not responsible for how those organisations perform.
We are not responsible for a university changing its fees, entry requirements, course content, campus or start dates, nor for a government changing its visa or immigration rules.
Where this website links to another website, we do not control it and we are not responsible for its content or its practices.
You can stop working with us at any time by telling us in writing. If you have paid a fee, section 6 explains what happens to it.
We may stop working with you if:
If we end our agreement, we will tell you why, hand back your documents, and confirm the status of anything already submitted on your behalf.
The content of this website, including its text, design, graphics and logo, belongs to Pin Abroad or to the people we licensed it from. You may read it, print it and share links to it for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, republish or resell it without our written permission.
University names and logos shown on this site belong to those institutions and are used to identify them. Their appearance does not imply that they endorse us.
You agree not to use this website to send false information, attempt to gain unauthorised access, introduce malicious code, scrape it in bulk, or interfere with its operation or with other people's use of it.
We try to keep the website available and up to date, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error free, and we may change or withdraw any part of it.
We will provide our services with reasonable care and skill.
We are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, or that arises from something outside our control, including:
Where we are liable, and where we have charged you a fee, our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid us for the service concerned.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
How we collect, use, share and protect your information is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
In short: we use what you give us to advise you and to apply on your behalf, we share your application with the institutions you choose, and we do not sell your data.
These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, and the courts of Singapore have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. Nothing here affects any right you may have to bring a claim under the mandatory consumer protection laws of the country where you live.
Please talk to us first. If something has gone wrong, email us and give us a fair chance to put it right. Most problems are resolved quickly once we know about them.
We may update these terms as our services or the law change. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last revised.
The version in force when you engaged us is the one that applies to that engagement. Continuing to use the website after we publish a change means you accept the updated terms.
If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest of them continue to apply.
