Life outside the classroom
Student life comes subsidised: university restaurants serve full meals for a few euros, museums are often free for under-26s, and rail cards make the whole country affordable to explore. Paris is magnetic but expensive; Lyon, Toulouse and Lille deliver the same student energy at two-thirds the cost. Basic French opens doors socially and professionally, and universities run free classes, so take them.
